LEXINGTON, Mass. —January 28, 2016— iBasis, a KPN company, and Cubic Telecom, a global connectivity platform provider, have implemented an LTE Roaming solution that uses iBasis’ global LTE footprint, hosted Diameter Signaling service and custom development to enable Cubic’s intelligent Multi-IMSI solution for connected cars and other future IoT/M2M applications.
Cubic sought a partner with global LTE roaming coverage that could deliver a solution supporting their embedded connectivity platform in a very short time. iBasis met the challenge with a cost-effective and operationally efficient solution that utilizes hosted Diameter Routing Agents (DRA) to enable Cubic Telecom to offer seamless 4G/LTE connectivity throughout Europe.
Cubic Telecom, which recently announced a partnership with Audi to deliver high-speed connectivity for Audi connect® infotainment services to drivers across Europe, is at the heart of a new digital solutions ecosystem. According to Machina Research, the total number of M2M connections will grow from 5 billion in 2014 to 27 billion in 2024. Cellular connections will grow from 256 million at the end of 2014 to 2.2 billion by 2024, the majority of which will be LTE, and over 50% will be in the ‘Connected Car’ sector.
“It was critical for us to find a responsive and innovative partner who can help us deliver this new generation of connectivity and digital services efficiently and reliably,” said James Dennis, Network Director of Cubic Telecom. “iBasis understood our unique needs and deployed a robust, customized solution very quickly, including a sophisticated analytics tool that helps us ensure high quality of service to end-users.”
“Cubic is empowering an exciting new generation of digital services for connected cars and other IoT and M2M applications,” said iBasis CEO Feddo Hazewindus. “We are very pleased to partner with them to deliver their vision seamlessly and globally.”
