BURLINGTON, MA, USA – 05/28/2014 – iBasis, a KPN company, today announced that Claro Brazil, a leading mobile operator in Brazil and subsidiary of America Movil, has connected to the iBasis LTE Signaling eXchange (LSX) for international LTE Roaming. The service will enable subscribers to Claro’s 4GMax service, available in 79 cities and towns in Brazil, to continue to enjoy LTE quality and speed while traveling internationally. It also adds Claro’s LTE network to the iBasis global LTE footprint, which includes more than 80 LTE network destinations worldwide. Claro was the first mobile operator to offer LTE service in Brazil with the 2012 launch of 4GMax.
“The demand for LTE speed and quality is peaking worldwide, and with the World Cup next month and the Olympics in 2016, enabling LTE roaming in Brazil is especially important,” said Willem Offerhaus, CEO of iBasis. “We’re very pleased to add innovative operators like Claro Brazil to our rapidly growing global footprint of connected LTE operators. We believe that together, we are at the forefront of delivering the LTE experience to consumers anywhere, anytime.”
