The WCA, organized by Terrapinn Media in coordination with its news publication, Total Telecom, recognizes the companies and individuals responsible for the innovations, achievements and great new services that are helping to build tomorrows industry.
The WCA recognition for 2009 follows the completion of the companys integration of acquisitions of KPN Global Carrier Services and TDCs international voice operations, which resulted in 79% growth in minutes, 41% growth in revenue and 49% growth in gross profit in 2008 compared to 2007. iBasis carried approximately 24 billion minutes in voice over IP (VoIP) and time-division multiplexing (TDM) traffic in 2008, placing iBasis among the three largest international voice carriers in the world, according to Telegeography.
Criteria for the WCAs Best Wholesale Carrier category in 2009 included differentiation in cost and quality levels, breadth of international reach and connectivity options, and a focus on growth and innovative business models.
