Rotterdam – iBASIS, the leading provider of communications solutions for operators and digital players worldwide, and KPN, the Netherlands’ leading telecom company, today announced the five-year renewal of their Voice and Mobile services outsourcing agreement, following nine years of successful collaboration.
The renewal reflects the proven value of iBASIS’ consolidation and outsourcing model, providing KPN with economies of scale, cost stability and fraud prevention, while supporting sustained international traffic growth.
iBASIS’ scalable IPX infrastructure with proactive capacity planning has supported significant growth in mobile data roaming. iBASIS has reliably managed KPN’s traffic peaks during periods of increased summer roaming demand, as well as unexpected spikes in IoT traffic. The renewed agreement will further strengthen cooperation across GRX, eSIM and 5G Standalone.
“The ability to reliably manage increasing data traffic is critical to delivering the quality of service our customers expect, particularly as demand continues to grow across roaming and IoT services,” said Reinout van Ierschot, Executive Vice President Wholesale at KPN. “We look forward to building on our long-standing relationship with iBasis and further developing our strong cooperation.”
“This second renewal with KPN is a strong recognition of what we have built together over the past nine years,” said Patrick George, CEO of iBASIS. “Our consolidation strategy enables us to deliver the scale, efficiency and network capacity required to manage continuously growing international traffic. With our service quality and customer experience at the heart of our partnership, we are proud to continue supporting KPN with the reliability and responsiveness required as its international Voice and Mobile needs evolve.”
The renewal follows recent industry recognition for iBASIS, which was recognized as Best Global Connectivity Provider – Voice at the 2026 Global Connectivity Awards, organized by Capacity Media and Techoraco.
