In a recent interview with Agnes Stubbs from Capacity Magazine, Feddo provides perspective on the future of wholesale telecom and the role iBasis intends to play
We are very pleased to announce that iBasis has been named to the shortlist of nominees in three categories in the Carriers World Awards; Best IPX Provider, Best Security/Fraud Solution Provider, and Best Messaging Solution. Winners will be announced during Carriers World on September 30, 2015.
Most mobile operators around the world are planning to launch voice service over the LTE infrastructure, better known in the industry as VoLTE. Before 2014, standards bodies such as the 3GPP and GSMA, along with most mobile operators, were considering the Local Breakout (LBO) model for VoLTE roaming. In this model, a visited LTE operator provides local breakout of roaming calls, routing them locally or sending them to the home network for routing. This was considered an effective voice roaming model, similar to the roaming model used by 3G networks.
Hot Telecom recently interviewed Willem Offerhaus, iBasis CEO to learn how iBasis is innovating as the wholesale voice market evolves to support voice in the new IP world. In the interview Willem explains how iBasis is continuing to be a leading international voice provider and innovator — among the first to launch IPX, LTE roaming, and more recently, the first to conduct successful international VoLTE roaming trials.
